A Prayer for the Fifth Sunday of Lent

We are almost into the last week of Lent.  Our journey towards Jerusalem with Jesus will shortly culminate in the mind blowing events of Holy week.  But there is still one more week before that happens.  Here is a prayer that came to me this morning as I was reflecting on this season and the wonder of God’s salvation plan.

God we were lost

But you found us

God we were abandoned

But you rescued us

God we were dead

But you gave us new life

In Christ we are welcomed

In Christ we are made whole

In Christ we find new life

God we have strayed

But you invite us to come home

God we are hungry

And you welcome us to your banquet feast

God we abandoned you

But you embraced us

In Christ we are redeemed

In Christ we find salvation

In Christ we become part of your eternal family
