Tom Sine Travelling in Turbulent Times

I just talked to Tom who is now in Manchester England on his book tour for The New Conspirators.  Amazingly he has not gotten lost once and is having a great time reconnecting to old friends and making new ones.  Here is a podcast from Moot in Oxford where he spoke over the weekend

What Happened to Dustin at Nickelsville?

I am sure that many of you are wondering what happened to Dustin and the others at the Nickelsville encampment this last weekend.  Dustin was arrested along with a number of others but later released.  Read the full report One of the challenges is that the situation is no where near resolved and evidently homeless [...]

Help Make the Invisible Visible

Last night Dustin Cross who lives in the basement apartment at the Mustard Seed House came to see me.  He was very agitated because he had just returned from a meeting about the Nickelsville, the camp for homeless people built at 7115 West Marginal Way SW here in Seattle.  This camp is composed mainly of [...]

Bringing in the Harvest

Yesterday we harvested 40 lb of tomatoes and over 200 lb of apples.  We are sharing them with friends, drying, canning and eating as fast as we can cope with while they are still fresh.  The generosity of God in providing like this is amazing and I really struggle as I walk around the neighbourhood [...]

Health Healing and Wholeness

I don’t usually blog on Sunday but I have so many thoughts swirling in my mind after the medical mission’s conference here in Pasadena that I thought I would commit some of them to the blogoshere. First the bad news – I was stunned to hear that there are 3 counties in Memphis Tennessee in [...]

Savvy Travelling – Ask An Australian

At least that is what my husband always tells me.  I have just arrived in Pasadena for the 2008 West Coast Healthcare Missions and Ministry Conference and feel as though I have been nickelled and dimed to death as I travelled.  Now they are not only charging for checked luggage but also for drinks on [...]

How Do We Form Community?

Well there has been quite a discussion about my zucchini muffin recipe though mainly through email and on facebook.  Joy’s comment about how much more fun it is to cook together has made me think alot about the value of community in mundane everyday tasks like this.  Cooking was once a community affair.  Women gathered [...]

Zucchini Anyone?

About this time of the year here in Seattle people start to look askance any time that you mention zucchini – it seems to proliferate wherever you look.  This year it is a little late but it is still there.  For most people it is a little overwhelming but as far as I am concerned [...]

Do We Live Or Just Preach Faith?

I really have been wondering about this as I have followed the path of Hurricanes Gustave and Ike and then watched the stock markets crash all over the world this morning.  Yet of the numerous Christian blogs I have followed over the weekend only one has had a post with a prayer and a thought [...]
