Just an interesting little fact from New American Dream
Americans consumed more than 31 billion liters of bottled water in 2006 – nearly 28 gallons for every man, woman, and child. Manufacturing all those bottles required 900,000 tons of plastic and emitted as much greenhouse gas as 500,000 cars! Trucking a bottle of water 500 miles can double its climate impact – and some are shipped much, much farther.

There is also a very interesting article from the New York Times 2 years ago entitled Bad to the Last Drop. Not only did we consume huge quantities of bottled water we spent $9.8 billion on it. Imagine what that money could do for the work of God’s kingdom!

Christine, this is my mother’s favorite rant! At 65+ she is appalled at the waste from bottled water, and tells me about it frequently. Thank you for the link to the pledge and the statistics.
