Well I never thought that I would confess to reading graphic books. It reminds me of my childhood when we visited my relatives. I would sneak off with my cousin’s comic collection and read through all the latest offerings in an afternoon. Now suddenly comics or graphic books as they are now called are in and I have just read one that has profoundly impacted me. Marjane Satrapi grew up in Iran during the Islamic revolution. I think that her memoir Persepolis is a must read for all of us who are grappling to understand the cultures of the Middle East. I am looking forward to reading Persepolis 2: The Story of a Return, which is the next installment of her story.
